When is Too Much Stuff Too Much Stuff?

When I was first asked this question, I believe it was during a monthly membership group. My immediate response was: when you're asking that question. We laughed at first then talked it out and discovered the feelings behind the question.
Sometimes we have too much stuff because something simply comes with many parts and pieces (ie. Legos). Other times we have too much stuff because of over purchasing or uncertainties. I wasn't sure which color they would like so I go a couple options. I wasn't sure which container was the right size so I got a few of each. I wasn't sure if it was this brand or this brand the kids would eat so I bought both. Next thing we know, we have duplicates or extras of what may or may not be used just sitting around.
Since each person, family and house hold is different, what may be too much in one instance may be just right in another. For me, too much happens often if things are organized visually. It's not actually too much stuff just too much me to see all at once and makes it feel like too much stuff. If that's reversed, a visual person could feel like a place is empty and lacking any stuff if everything is tucked away behind a door or in a container. Finding that balance can be tricky but being aware of your personal organizing style can really help you understand if the too much stuff is a reality or feeling.
I can have my specific Funko Pops and Legos for days and I'm not sure it would ever feel like too much stuff for me because I love them! Of course they are sorted and organized into like-with-like fandoms, so that is an extra perk but honestly, I just love them all. That being said, I can't handle all the DVDs and video games being on an open shelf in the living room because it's too much! When I say that organizing styles can vary from person to person and space to space, that's exactly what I mean.
