Visual vs. Non-visual

Let's dive into your actual style preference(s) and help the Hopeful journey shift into successful systems for you!
How do we determine?!??! Well, we focus on one area that needs Hope in organizing and ask some questions:
Do you have a dresser but the clothes never make it back into the drawer?
Does out of sight create an anxious feeling of out of mind?
When filling a shelf, is every inch fair game or does seeing all your stuff, in one place at one time, feel overwhelming?
Now, before we get into examples...yes! you can be a bit of both depending on the area of focus. For example, I'm mostly a non-visual organizer. Most of my clothes are tucked in drawers, behind closet doors or in shoe boxes. When we look closer at my nerd collections (books & Funko Pops), I love having these on shelves and book cases to see all the time. It actually made me anxious & sad when these all got boxed up for staging our last home to sell.
Knowing ones visual style is not only pertinent to your continued success in organizing but also key to finding compromises for the Home Team. When we work thru common areas for compromising organizing system, we suggest leaning toward the visual organizing options. (Yes, this makes me a little crazy too but it's worth it in the long run). Let's say we're working in the sitting room (family/living room, etc.) and this is where all the entertainment items are kept. Movie, video games, board games, toys, etc...All those things 'we do together' need a home that is compromised for the simplest style to manage. In this share, that would be the visual organizer.
Instead of keeping DVD's in a binder, consider putting them on a shelf. Board games can be stored in their original packing or even in clear containers with the title from the original package used as a label. Toys can be stored in bins with bright picture labels to help keep things visual.
To recap:
* Yes, you can vary from visual & non-visual depending on the area of focus
* Compromise in common spaces to the visual organizer
* Consider large colorful, picture labels in place of all clear containers to support visual preferences
